Grantmakers and member-driven organizations

An investment program designed entirely for nonprofit organizations.

Built around the day-to-day realities of your board, committee, and staff. Informed by decades of nonprofit work, our governance framework and processes are designed to help your investment program remain resilient through leadership transitions.

Nonprofit investment process▾

Purpose-built for nonprofits, our investment process aligns portfolio strategy with the distinct timeline and goal of each of your organization’s asset pools. We prioritize strategic asset allocation and work to minimize investment costs, both of which we believe are key to successful investing and central to how we manage long-term capital.

Fund subaccounting▾

We offer tracking of individual endowments, restricted gifts, and sub-funds directly within a single investment account using automated, monthly reconciliations. This reduces the need for tedious spreadsheet management while delivering clear, customized reporting for your donors and board.

Asset optimization and liquidity planning▾

We help you structure your assets so every dollar has a dedicated purpose, from short-term liquidity to long-term growth. We align each fund’s investment strategy with its specific timeline, seeking to protect near-term obligations while positioning surplus capital for a longer horizon.

Donor and gift support▾

We handle gifted securities and donor reporting so processing non-cash contributions is straightforward. We provide a white-labeled Giving & Stewardship Center you can link directly from your website, and our team supports your development staff in donor meetings to communicate the disciplined stewardship behind your funds.

Investment and supporting policy design▾

Your Investment Policy Statement (IPS) is the cornerstone of portfolio governance. We collaborate with your leadership to draft or refine a custom IPS and manage the portfolio in alignment with it. Beyond the IPS, we help design and update supporting policies — spending policies, gift acceptance guidelines, and fund movement protocols — to maintain governance continuity through leadership transitions.

Proactive board and committee reporting▾

We deliver clear, benchmarked performance reports alongside regular governance and fiduciary updates to keep your leadership informed. Through our centralized portal hub, all key stakeholders — staff, committee members, and board directors — have transparent visibility and easy access to program details. Our advisory team is accessible whenever questions or needs arise.

Our Three Pillars

How we work with your organization

eCIO was founded to serve foundations, endowments, and nonprofits. Our team has advised nonprofit organizations for decades, and much of our leadership has worked together for more than 10 years (including at a previous organization) — continuity that supports a consistent, disciplined approach to each client’s mission and long-term objectives.

*Retention Rate Disclosure

Retention rate reflects the total assets under management (AUM) retained from institutional nonprofit client relationships managed by eCIO, Inc. from 1/1/2020 to 12/31/2025. AUM retention is calculated by comparing total retained assets at the end of the period against the starting asset pool. The metric explicitly excludes account terminations that resulted from organizational dissolutions or entity-level mergers/transfers where assets remained managed within related structures. Past retention performance is not indicative of future client experience or investment outcomes. Data is calculated by eCIO. As of December 31, 2025.

The client retention rate and sample list of nonprofit clients is not meant to be an endorsement or expression of opinion about eCIO. Clients shown were selected based on segment relevance and permission, not on account performance, and do not represent all clients. Inclusion does not indicate approval of eCIO or its services.
